Preparation method
Method 1
A mixture of benzyl chloride, trimethylamine, and methanol was refluxed for 4 hours. The methanol was removed by distillation to obtain a crude product, which was then recrystallized from ethanol to obtain benzyltrimethylammonium chloride product with a yield of 88%.
