Uses: This product is an intermediate for quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactants. It can react with ethylene oxide, dimethyl sulfate, diethyl sulfate, chloromethane, benzyl chloride, etc., to form different quaternary ammonium salt cations; it reacts with sodium chloroacetate to give alkyl betaine zwitterionic surfactants; and it reacts with hydrogen peroxide to give amine oxide products.
