Application areas
Application 1
Used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and phase transfer catalystApplication 2
It acts as a phase transfer catalyst.Application 3
Alkylation catalyst. Organic synthesis phase transfer catalyst. Synthesis of polysubstituted cyclopropanes via Michael addition catalysis using phase transfer catalysis.
Preparation method
Method 1
Using acetone as a solvent, equimolar amounts of benzyl chloride and trichloroamine were sequentially added to a reaction vessel. The mixture was heated to 63–64 °C with stirring and held under reflux for 8 h. The temperature was then slowly lowered to 15 °C, filtered, and the filter cake was washed with acetone and dried to obtain the product. The yield was 68.9%.
Method 2
Benzyl chloride, triethylamine, and acetone were added to a reaction vessel and refluxed at 63-64°C for 8 hours. The temperature was then slowly lowered to 15°C, and the mixture was filtered. The filter cake was washed with acetone and dried to obtain TEBA. The yield was 68.9%.
