Application areas

Application 1

Used for the determination of platinum, palladium, mercury and gold, and as an emulsifier and polymerization inhibitor.Application 2

Used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and phase transfer catalystApplication 3

Used as an emulsifier, cellulose solvent and polymerization inhibitorApplication 4

Determination of platinum, palladium, mercury, and gold. Organic synthesis. Cellulose. Solvents. Emulsifiers. Polymerization inhibitors.

Preparation method

Method 1

A mixture of benzyl chloride, trimethylamine, and methanol was refluxed for 4 hours. The methanol was removed by distillation to obtain a crude product, which was then recrystallized from ethanol to obtain benzyltrimethylammonium chloride product with a yield of 88%.
